Probya LLC is a femtech company developing microbiome-focused intimate care products grounded in clinical science. We are seeking a Senior Cosmetic Chemist for a contract engagement to support formulation development and clinical validation of our intimate wellness product line.

We combine microbiology, formulation science, and clinical research to build products that work in harmony with the body's natural processes. This is a hands-on scientific ownership role working directly with the founder at a pivotal stage of product development.

Scope of Work — 4 Milestones:

Milestone 1: Formulation audit and written technical gap analysis with corrected INCI nomenclature
Milestone 2: Independent Probya-owned formulation development with Lactobacillus-compatible preservative system, full INCI list, and ingredient safety notes
Milestone 3: Manufacturer-ready formulation master file, USP 51 preservative efficacy test brief, supplier qualification checklist, and label claims review
Milestone 4: Clinical validation support including third-party testing coordination, results interpretation, and ingredient safety documentation
Compensation: $75–$95/hr | Total engagement: $6,500–$9,000 | Contract | Remote

Requirements

3–7+ years cosmetic formulation experience in personal care, intimate wellness, or sensitive skin products
Working knowledge of vaginal or skin microbiome science and Lactobacillus-compatible formulation principles
Experience with preservative efficacy testing (USP 51) and rinse-off product formats
Familiarity with FDA cosmetic labeling requirements and MoCRA compliance
Strong technical documentation skills — organized, complete, audit-ready deliverables
Ability to translate complex formulation science clearly for a non-chemist founder
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Pharmaceutical Sciences
NDA and Independent Contractor Agreement required before project kickoff
