RESEARCH POSITION OPENINGS - M.S. / Ph.D. / POSTDOCTORAL LEVELS - IN TRANSLATIONAL REPRODUCTIVE AND SYSTEMS BIOLOGY
SUMMARY
The Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences (VIBS), in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) at Texas A&M University (TAMU), invites applications for fully funded MS, PhD, and/or postdoctoral positions in translational reproductive and systems biology.
Positions are based in the newly established Translational Transcellular and Interstitial Fluidomics Lab (TIFL), supervised by Dr. Constantine “Kosta” Simintiras, Assistant Professor of Reproductive Biology and Pregnancy.
RESEARCH AREAS
Positions are anchored to one of the following projects, though all members are strongly encouraged to develop these projects, while engaging and contributing across several additional projects.
- Project A — Bovine conceptus elongation. Elucidating the molecular mechanisms governing bovine conceptus elongation, using integrated in vivo cattle models coupled with advanced in vitro and analytical systems. The ideal applicant will have a background in animal science, veterinary medicine, reproductive physiology, or related field. Hands-on experience with in vitro fertilization, bovine estrous synchronization, ultrasonography, uterine flushing, and/or related large-animal procedures would be particularly valuable.
- Project B — Endometrial regeneration. Defining the biochemical architecture of endometrial regeneration using transgenic mouse models, human-derived specimens, and advanced in vitro culture systems. Ideal for applicants with a background in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Experience with mouse colony management, including genotyping, and/or gene editing would be advantageous.
- Project C — Transcellular fluid metabolism. Investigating the biochemical basis of metabolic semi-autonomy in transcellular fluids from multi-species specimens using analytical biochemistry, computational biology, and emerging platforms, including 3D printing. The ideal applicant will have a background in computational biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
TIMELINE
Shortlisting is expected to conclude in early 11/2026, with an anticipated start date of 01/2027. Some flexibility is possible depending on the position, admission timelines, and potential visa requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILES
We are seeking talented, self-motivated, ambitious, and dependable individuals across all levels of experience. Applicants will be considered for MS, PhD, or postdoctoral appointments depending on background, experience, and project fit. Prior related technical experience is valuable, but potential, work ethic, and curiosity matter just as much, as training can be provided where needed. All members of the TAMU research community must adhere to the Aggie values and Code of Honor. Additionally, all applicants must hold a valid US driver's license or be willing to obtain one shortly after joining.
RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
TIFL is housed in the Veterinary Research Building on the flagship Texas A&M University campus in College Station, embedded within a highly collaborative environment spanning CVMBS and the wider TAMU Interdisciplinary Faculty of Reproductive Biology (IFRB). CVMBS was recently ranked #3 in the USA and #5 globally, reflecting a shared commitment to excellence in research, teaching, veterinary medicine, and biomedical science. The successful candidates will, therefore, join an ambitious group within an established and highly successful integrative biosciences ecosystem, supported by state-of-the-art rodent and large animal facilities, advanced core laboratories, and a broad interdisciplinary network.
HOW TO APPLY
Informal inquiries and applications are welcome at simintiras[at]tamu.edu. Please include a brief statement of purpose describing your relevant experience and preferred project area, in addition to a comprehensive CV.
