Description
Our team at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow with a strong background in molecular biology, cell biology and neuroscience to join our multidisciplinary research team. Our laboratory research studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control neuronal identity, glial plasticity, neural regeneration and neurodegeneration. A major focus of our work is developing strategies to promote neural regeneration in the retina and brain. Current projects include Müller glia–mediated retinal regeneration, astrocyte-to-neuron reprogramming, transcriptional regulation of neuronal cell fate, and development of gene- and cell-based approaches for neurodegenerative diseases. We combine molecular and cellular biology, mouse and zebrafish genetics, viral vectors, single-cell genomics, high-throughput screening, imaging and computational approaches. The successful candidate will have substantial freedom to develop innovative projects and will be strongly supported in developing an independent research program.
