Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Microbiology or a related field.
Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Medical Mycology at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2027.
The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching, research, and service missions of the Department of Microbiology. Responsibilities include teaching courses in microbiology, mycology, infectious disease, or related topics, as well as participating in service and student mentoring.
The successful candidate will also benefit from participation in the UGA Interdisciplinary Fungal Biology Group, which provides opportunities for scientific exchange, collaboration, and trainee development.

Candidates must have qualifications and academic credentials that are commensurate with the promotion and tenure guidelines at the University of Georgia and must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire. We seek an outstanding scientist whose research advances the fundamental and/or translational understanding of human fungal pathogens using experimental, computational, or integrative approaches.
Candidates should have an established record of research productivity and extramural funding appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, together with a compelling vision for the future development of their research program. Evidence of excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring is also expected.
