We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Parsippany, NJ; Cherry Hill, NJ; Princeton, NJ; Bethlehem, PA; or Holicong, PA offices.
In this field-intensive role, you will work under the direction and supervision of senior staff, conducting site and subsurface characterization for environmental and geotechnical projects. Responsibilities include travel to job sites and working outside of the office setting to perform site reconnaissance, monitor subsurface exploration activities, collect field samples, conduct routine data collection and analysis, and monitor contractor environmental and geotechnical-related activities during construction. You will also compile, analyze, manage, and report field and instrumentation data using spreadsheets and other digital tools, prepare written reports and client deliverables (including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments), and adhere to rigorous site-specific health and safety plans.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:
- Independently conduct field investigations and assessments of soil, groundwater, surface water, etc., using approved industry standard procedures.
- Independently conduct field investigations such as subsurface explorations and monitoring well construction, field sampling to support site characterization .
- Monitor subsurface exploration activities (e.g., test borings, geoprobes, and test pits) to collect soil, bedrock, groundwater, and other pertinent information for project design
- Conduct soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with ASTM standards, company procedures, and other guidelines
- Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate to the discipline
- Compile, reduce, analyze, manage, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and environmental data using spreadsheets and other tools
- Conduct on-site monitoring/engineering observation of contractor environmental and geotechnical-related construction activities
- Use various environmental and geotechnical instrumentation and equipment during field work
- Perform historical site review and review applicable regulations, as appropriate
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Draft technical sections of project communications and reports, including written reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables such as Phase I and Phase II ESAs
- Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on project opportunities.
- Adhere to Site Specific Health and Safety Plans prepared for each project site. Participate in site safety briefings and audits by both contractors and Haley & Aldrich
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline. M.S. degree welcomed.
- 05 years of professional services consulting experience, including Phase I/Phase II environmental assessments, data evaluation, and presentation of technical solutions in a variety of written and oral formats
- Must comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
- Must comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional certification or planning to obtain professional certification, as applicable to the discipline.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in MS Office software.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours
- Ability to travel to temporary assignments across the U.S.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to job sites and office.
- Working knowledge of GIS
- Familiarity with environmental analytical testing and data reduction techniques for soil, water, and air
Preferred Skills:
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
- Specialized software applications, including groundwater modeling software.
- Strong chemistry, geochemistry, and biology background and understanding.
The salary range for this position in Parsippany, NJ, Cherry Hill, NJ, and Princeton, NJ is $54,000 - $76,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
