The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure Postdoctoral Associate position within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The selected candidate will be performing Lung research, which will also emphasize on HIV-associated pulmonary dysfunction and environmental related comorbidities. The Postdoctoral Associate is required to work with HIV and animal models of the disease. The selected candidate will also be responsible for analyzing scientific data, writing manuscripts for publication, and assisting with grant proposals to agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense, and the National Science Foundation. Duties will also include Service to the College of Medicine (e.g., committee member, journal reviewer), grant writing, and applying for federal and/or state funding. Lastly, the selected candidate is expected to possess excellent project and time management skills, strong interpersonal and mentoring skills, and advocate for safety and ethics in the workplace. Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree (PhD).
Desired Qualifications: Prior experience working with Mouse and cellular models of HIV is mandatory. Experience with HIV-associated lung comorbidities research is highly preferred. Candidates should have strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, including gene expression analysis (qRT-PCR), Western blotting, and ELISA, along with a demonstrated publication record in omics-based analyses such as RNA-seq and single-cell genomics; experience with spatial transcriptomics and/or metabolomics is preferred. Candidates within two years of terminal degree are preferred.
