Post Doctoral.Post Doctoral.Associate
GSPH-Infectious Diseases & Microbiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26001210)
The Keogh Lab in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to study bacterial pathogenesis and hostmicrobe interactions in chronic wound infections. Our work focuses on Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus) and Staphylococcus aureus in the context of diabetes, with an emphasis on how immune pressures and wound microenvironmental conditions shape microbial persistence, virulence, and polymicrobial ecology. The Postdoctoral Associate will lead projects using clinically relevant models and modern infection biology toolkits (e.g., in vivo wound models, ex vivo human skin explants, bacterial genetics, RNA-seq/dual RNA-seq, imaging, and quantitative microbiology/immunology assays), with strong opportunities to develop independent directions and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
We're looking for a motivated scientist with a PhD (or equivalent) in microbiology, immunology, infectious diseases, or a related field, with experience in at least one of the following: bacterial genetics/physiology, animal models of infection, tissue culture/ex vivo models, immunology, or computational/omics analysis. The ideal Candidate is rigorous, curious, and excited to mentor trainees while driving projects forward with intellectual ownership. We offer excellent core facilities and a highly collaborative research environment, in addition to a competitive salary and benefits, including comprehensive medical plans, educational benefits, retirement savings, and several others described at https://www.hr.pitt.edu/new-employees/new-pitt/faculty-post-orientation/benefits-ft-pda.
