- Daycamp Counselor
Description
Seacamp is a non-profit organization offering a unique marine science/SCUBA residential camp for teenagers 12-17 and a marine science day camp for youth 10-13. Established in 1966, it is located near the most extensive coral reef in the continental United States in the middle of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Seacamp offers courses in marine science, SCUBA diving, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, arts and crafts, photography, and camp newspaper. Daycamp counselors work with children ages 10-13, instructing a variety of activites including: science classes, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, and other enrichment programs. In the evening they are to lead a weekly campfire and assist with residential camper supervision on the other nights. Camper transportation is a daily responsibility as well assisting in all camp functions.
Requirements
Daycamp Counselors must be at least 21 years old; have a BA in Biology, Marine Science, or related field; have a valid drivers license with an clean driving record to meet insurance requirements; have a strong desire to work with children at a residential facility in a tropical marine environment; be able to adhere to camp policies; be positive role models, and be comfortable in the water with strong aquatic skills. SCUBA certification is preferred, but not required.
