Position Description
The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank. We seek outstanding candidates with active research programs applying innovative approaches, including animal/human models of disease as well as computational biology and/or emerging AI technologies in the study and instruction of physiology. Scientists who address fundamental or applied questions in cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, or gastrointestinal physiology are encouraged to apply. Each candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic and externally funded research program as well as contribute significantly to the Department’s teaching mission in undergraduate, graduate or professional DVM courses. Special importance is placed on instruction in the Biomedical Physiology undergraduate major. Candidates will mentor graduate and undergraduate students as well as postdoctoral research associates.
Minimum Requirement: A doctoral degree in Physiology or a related field.
Additional Requirement: Applicants must have a doctoral degree and 2 years postdoctoral experience in Physiology or a related field, along with at least 1 year of teaching experience.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification: All candidates must have a publication record appropriate for the rank.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: An ideal candidate will have a research program with an emphasis in either cardiovascular, renal, respiratory or gastrointestinal physiology and knowledge of computational biology approaches. Candidates should also have a commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
